Hello!
New for this week is a couple of assignments due Friday. Students were given a repeated reading sheet and instructions. What the instructions failed to point out is that on the 5th reading (for you to hear) you should time him or her and include the Words Per Minute on the line with your initials.
The writing is not intended to be a large-scale assignment -just a paragraph with a rough draft and a final draft. It should be (mostly) free from errors.
This is what I instructed them to write in their Reminder Binders:
Homework:
Tuesday:
1. Week of September 6 Homework (due Friday)
2. Finish Math 543-4 (9-25) due tomorrow
3. Read 20 minutes (5 aloud)
The math they started in class (many finished). I am showing the class how to access their math books online. When they can do that, they won't have to lug the book back and forth!
Behavior Percentages went home today. Most students have responded well (-just a few exceptions) to our new desk arrangement. They have found it motivating to receive group points.
Scholastic Book orders are due Friday. Thanks to all who have sent in forms or ordered online. Consult rmcelroy.weebly.com (on 8/29) for instructions on how to order online, if necessary. We are up to $140, but if we got to $275, there are huge incentives. Most students are pre-ordering the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book set to be released in November.
I like to sign students' reminder binders, but these emails sometimes take the place of signatures.
