Hello!
You may have heard that I left school early today. It is true. I am experience (non-wimpy) cold symptoms. Fortunately, I was able to hear the students poems. What a great morning in Room 16! Here is what the students did today:
-all students were prepared with poems memorized, ready to go
-we went in numerical order (after a volunteer to go first was selected) and students knew on their own when to go to the "on deck" and "in the hole" spots before his or her turn
-students ran the process on their own; I was able to fill out the rubric sheets without having to say a word to the class -amazing!
-I typed to the students that I was not feeling my best; some groups "go for the kill" (misbehave) when the teacher is sub par, but this group showed me respect and concern.
They reminded each other when things got a little noisy. I'm really impressed and touched by their willingness to make the day work for me!
Since the week went a little differently (due to Halloween), if students did not have their Spelling ready to go -they can turn it in on Monday. (See last Monday's email for a printable version)
Also, I am attaching next week's spelling in case you and/or your child want your child to get an early start (OK -that sentence was pretty weird!).
Have a great weekend!
